Cats learn by association, so you should reinforce any behavior you like with cuddles or cookie treats.
Reinforce her behavior when she is resting during the day: what I mean is when you see her sleeping during the day pamper her. Don’t give her treats at this moment, just pet her.
Play with them during the day, you don’t need to play for hours, just 5/10 minutes or less is enough. Especially before bed, she is tired and will sleep more at night. But very important, do not play minutes before going to sleep, do it half an hour before.
It would be very good to give them interactive toys, like the type where they must hunt to find food (cats are hunters by nature). So, if they have the necessity to look for food at night when they are most active, they will be more distracted. These toys are meant to be placed only at night.
Make sure that before going to sleep they have enough food and water, for cats if there is a small void in their dishes it means that they have no food at all and they are going to die of hunger, it is a well-known meme, but it is the reality.
Don’t reinforce hyperactive behavior if you see her during the day: if she starts demanding attention during the day when you are busy and you pay attention to her, she will associate that when she wants something you will pay attention to her.
When you close the bedroom door, don’t open it again, don’t talk to her, don’t make any noise when she starts meowing or scratching the door. If you make any noise or talk, she will understand that you are paying attention to her and will continue to bother you. It will take a little time, but it takes a lot of patience until she learns that when the doors are closed, it means she will not receive attention.
Just as during the week their toys should also be varied during the night and more frequently. Every two or three nights place different toys around the house. That way they don’t lose interest. Cats are curious and anything new will attract them a lot.
Consider purchasing a larger cat tree where they can climb and hide, a cat tree in which they can have more activity. I would recommend placing it near a window where they can see the outdoor TV. Cats are very active mammals, especially during the night. If possible, don’t close the curtains at night, it’s the perfect cat television. Or, if you can some nights leave it a little open so that they can jump over the edge of the window and see out (not every night, do it randomly)
Smells help too. Get the Feliway diffuser and if you can, something with a lavender scent to spray before going to sleep. The smell of lavender is relaxing, not only for them but for humans too. Clean your door with Citronella, cats don’t like that smell, and it may help keep her from coming to your door.
The next day when you get up, ratify your relationship with them by hugging them and kissing them a lot and rewarding them – a cookie or their favorite food – immediately, this way they see by association that when the new day is starting, they will receive a lot of love.
